The Knuckle Jar is often used within a toolstring to convey downhole data acquisition tools where a long stroke mechanical type jar may cause damage to the internal components of downhole gauges. Configuring a Knuckle Jar within the toolstring also enables it to pass unrestricted over nipple shoulders, tubing crossovers and other points where a rigid toolstring may encounter difficulty.
