By maintaining an overpull, the oil within the Jar chamber is slowly metered until the close-tolerance piston reaches the larger internal ID. At this point the Slide Stem accelerates rapidly to ‘fire’ the toolstring upwards. The jar is then simply re-set / closed by setting down toolstring weight which moves the check valve and balance piston off seat, allowing fluid transfer to fully re-set the Oil Jar.
