Reservoir Group offer a comprehensive range of core heads, exhibiting numerous unique features that enhance core quality and coring performance.

Core head development is a continuous process and many of our improvements result from adapting and improving our designs to overcome specific coring challenges.
The extensive product range enables the selection of a core head that, for a particular formation, will deliver optimum performance in terms of core quality, low mud filtrate invasion, core recovery, penetration rates and efficiency.
Reservoir Group Core Heads for out CP core barrel platforms are equipped with a double bearing located inside the crown of the core head. This brings the following benefits
• Thrust Bearing – Efficient rotational independence between the Inner and Outer Core Barrel
• Radial Bearing – Prevents any lateral movement of the Inner Barrel
• Controlled Spacing – to guarantee a minimal flow in the throat.

Three different types of core head technologies are available to cover all coring applications:

Polycrystalline Diamond Cutter (PDC) Core head Technology

• Best used in Unconsolidated, soft to hard formation types
• Most commonly used Core Head type
• Not recommended for formations contain chert or conglomerates
• Repairable

TSP Core Head Technology

• Medium ROP in medium to hard formations
• The best in some specific applications
• Not recommended for very hard formations
• Cannot be repaired
• Expensive

Impregnated Core Head Technology

• Designed for very hard and abrasive formations
• Can be run with a motor
• Cannot be repaired
• Offer the higher diamond content

Natural Diamond Core Head Technology

• The first ever core bits
• Available for all formations but nowadays only used for hard abrasive rocks
• Good multi-application bit for exploration wells (versatility)
• Cannot be repaired
• Cheap
