The Gyrohead is the upper portion of Reservoir Group’s double bearing system within our CP Core Barrel family.
Gyrohead
Independent rotation of the Outer Barrel Assembly is achieved by two heavy duty bearings within the Gyrohead, which minimise frictional energy losses and maintain high stabilisation and stationary inner tube even in highly deviated and horizontal coring.
The system has the added benefit of vibration damping from the Bellville Springs utilised to space out of the Inner Barrel Assembly. This assists in jam mitigation by reducing the amount of vibration and flexing with the Inner Barrel Assembly during coring that otherwise increases the risk of core jamming.
