Core Imaging and Structural Analysis Service

Reservoir Group has a key strategic alliance with Corias to provide the means for on-site reorientation and structural analysis of the core.

The combination of Orient-Pro or Mag-Pro oriented coring with Corias AS3D technology allows reorientation, structural and fracture analysis to be completed before degradation of the core occurs during transport to a lab.

The AS3D structural analyzer provides computer aided 3D digitization of geometric measurements of linear and planar structures. The portable equipment allows core studies to be made at the wellsite in a timely manner.

The orientation of the various sedimentary and tectonic structures are first calculated in relation to a reference scribe line and then reoriented in geographic position. Along with structural information, analysts can more easily distinguish between stress induced and natural fractures. The fractures can be properly understood and described before irreparable disturbance occurs due to further handling and transportation of the cores.

The data is processed and displayed in various formats including dip meter logs, rose diagrams, frequency histograms, and stereonet plots. Each of the displays is further enhanced with colour coding and descriptions of the various features encountered. Image logs can be inserted into a Core Quick View log.
