Band Saw

Reservoir Group Coring utilises two options for cutting the core during processing. One of the options is a purposely designed Band saw.

The saw is industry preferred due to low impact in core damage and increased HSE aspect and is operated by a qualified operator with experience in handling and processing cores.

The saw is self-contained on a steel frame that can be aligned and attached to the Core Laydown Cradles. Operation is fully automated so reduces the risk of harm to the operator. As there is no high speed, rotating blade the amount of harmful dust generated per cut kept to a minimum. Thermal damage to the core is significantly reduced by the band saws action, further preserving any formation fluids within the core.

The Band Saw is available with either a pneumatic or electrical power plant, both being intrinsically safe.
