The Type 683 - 3-Stage Cementing system is comprised of a lower string Hydraulic stage collar (T690), and an upper string Mechanical stage collar that are run at varied depths in the casing string to allow a 3 stage cementing operation to be carried out. Since the tools are mechanically and Hydraulically opened, this system can only be used where the upper string tool in the well is placed at an inclination <25°.
