Helix utilizes its IRS to establish a connection from vessel to wellhead, with all control systems multiplexed to the operating vessel. This electronic setup reduces control response times to a fraction of a second, as opposed to the several seconds required for a mud pulse system to travel the length of the riser. IRS systems are available with through bore diameters to 13-5/8”, enabling a broad range of well intervention and completion tools to be tripped through the system.
