Now managed by Canrig, the Tesco® 750-ton ESI 1350 top drive is an offshore-capable electric top drive built to meet the demands of today’s highly complex drilling applications, especially on jack-up rigs and island barges.
Capable of producing up to 1007 kW (1350HP), the 750 ESI 1350 employs an AC induction motor and drive system and can be operated by a self-contained generator or by connecting directly to the rig’s AC Bus.
The complete system including the top drive, torque system and power unit can be installed in less than one day, typically with no rig modifications necessary. This top drive can be supplied in condition to meet ABS or CE/ATEX requirements upon request.
The 750 ESI 1350 offers all critical pipe-handling functions including elevator link-tilt, extend/retract functionality (for making mouse hole connections up to 60 in. from well center) and 360° pipe handler rotation. The grabber will accommodate tool joints from 76.2 mm (3 in.) to 222.25 mm (8 3/4 in.) OD. The 750 ESI 1000 also has a 100 ton pull-down capacity while rotating.
The 750 ESI 1350 top drive’s unique design integrates the swivel, a disc brake and pipe handling robotics resulting in a very compact unit. It also incorporates a programmable logic control (PLC) which enhances communications between the driller’s panel and the drive system, optimizes efficiency and provides important safety interlocks.
