The Tesco® 250 ton HXI 700 top drive is a full-featured top drive built for drilling and workover applications on land or offshore and is the most versatile top drive among the Tesco®hydraulic top drive offering.
Capable of producing up to 522 kW (700HP), the 250 HXI 700 employs a hydraulic motor and gear train and can be operated by an independent diesel, AC or DC traction motor drive.
The complete system including the top drive, torque system and hydraulic power unit (HPU) that can be installed in less than one day with only minimal rig modifications needed, if any. A customizable torque arrest system and a mud saver can also be incorporated into the system’s design.
The 250 HXI 700 offers all critical pipe-handling functions including elevator link-tilt, extend/retract functionality (for making mouse hole connections) and 360° pipe handler rotation. The grabber will accommodate tool joints from 76.2mm (3 in.) to 222.25mm (8-3/4in.) OD.
The 250 HXI 700 top drive’s unique design integrates the swivel, gearbox and load frame resulting in a very compact unit. Depending upon the power unit type, this top drive may also incorporate a programmable logic control (PLC) which enhances communications between the driller’s panel and the drive system, optimizes efficiency and provides important safety interlocks.
