The Tesco® 500-ton and 650-ton HCIS 1205 top drives are full-featured hydraulic top drives built for medium and deep drilling applications on land or offshore. They are compact enough to fit into most double and triple masts.
Capable of producing up to 899 kW (1205HP), the HCIS 1205 is equipped with its own independent diesel engine or traction motor.
The complete system including the top drive, torque system and hydraulic power unit (HPU) that can be installed in less than one day with only minimal rig modifications needed, if any. A customizable torque arrest system and a double ball mud saver can also be incorporated into the system’s design.
The HCIS 1205 offers all critical pipe-handling functions including elevator link-tilt, extend/retract functionality (for making mouse hole connections) and 360° pipe handler rotation. The grabber can act as a backup tong to makeup connections and will accommodate tool joints from 3 in. to 8-3/4in. OD.
The HCIS 1205 top drive’s unique design integrates the gearbox and load frame resulting in a very compact unit. It also comes with an integrated swivel and quill assembly, as denoted by the “S” in “HCIS”. The unique design of this model’s quill allows for rapid field removal for inspection or replacement without draining the gear case. An optional programmable logic control (PLC) enhances communications between the driller’s panel and the drive system, optimizes efficiency and provides important safety interlocks.
