Out in the field our clients often find that the amount of metal debris left in the hole is more than expected. This causes operational problems, whether the operation is setting a packer, setting a plug, drilling ahead or milling a section.
Initially used to try and catch debris before it fell to a production packer below, our Field Engineers tested magnets within the work string to aid wellbore clean up. Looking outside the oil industry for magnets that would retain their properties in down hole conditions, Abrado collaborated with magnetic experts across the USA. The result is a rare, high-strength, 100 year lifespan earth magnets that can tolerate temperatures up to 650F – we call these Mag-traps.
