When it comes to wellbore clean up, nobody likes messing with ditch magnets. They are necessary if you want to keep up with your drilling schedule, however they are messy, difficult and sometimes a hazard to clean, which means that sometimes the crew avoids using them.
Abrado’s Field Engineers researched and developed a new way of using surface magnets for wellbore clean up by testing magnets in a sleeve. Their theory proved that when you pull the magnet out, the metal debris falls off the housing ‘sleeve’ in a heap. This system was named “Shed Skin” technology and was put to use on our surface magnets, known as Mudvipers™.
