The Bridge Plug/Packer Running Tool is used when a mechanical set plug is to be set on coil tubing or threaded pipe
There are 2 means of activating the Running Tool and this involves slightly different tool set-ups.
1.A blanked off version where the tool is blanked off internally and pressure is applied down the pipe to initiate setting. This tool is normally run in conjunction with a Flow Shut Off Device to allow self filling of the pipe.
2.A Ball drop version where a ball is pumped to seat, and pressure is applied down the pipe.
In both cases pressure is used to completely set the plug/packer. However, a combination of overpull and pressure to shear the running tool is possible as well.
