Cement setting times can be adjusted with retarders. Cement retarders control the time when a slurry will set hard, keeping the slurry viscous and pumpable in expected wellbore temperatures and for the amount of time required to place the slurry.
Retarders decrease the rate of cement hydration, acting in a manner opposite to that of accelerators.
COMPONENT R™ Retarder
A retarder enhancer, when combined with a primary cement retarder, can help extend the effectiveness of the primary retarder for higher temperature conditions up to 600°F (315°C).
HR®-12 Cement Retarder
An effective retarder for all cement types and Pozmix® cements, is useful in conditions too severe for HR®-4, HR®-5 and HR®-7 retarders, provides excellent retardation in wells with bottomhole circulating temperatures as high as 340°F (171.1°C), HR-12 retarder can also exhibit dispersing effects on cement.
HR®-14LM Cement Retarder
Particularly suited to offshore situations where seawater is the preferred mix water for cement slurry systems.
HR®-25 Cement Retarder
A high-temperature retarder/intensifier, can be used at bottomhole circulating temperatures ranging from 200°F (93°C) to >400°F (>204°C) with a primary retarder, used alone it can gel cement.
HR®-4 Retarder
A low temperature calcium lignosulfonate retarder for intermediate wells with bottomhole circulating temperatures up to 170°F (77°C) that can be used to retard all types of cement and Pozmix® cements, as a secondary effect HR-4 retarder acts a slight dispersant
HR®-5 Retarder
A chemically modified lignosulfonate used to retard the setting of all classes of cement and Pozmix® cement, provides more predictable thickening times than HR-4 and can be used at bottomhole circulating temperatures up to 210°F (99°C), as a secondary effect HR-5 retarder acts as a slight dispersant
HR®-6L Cement Retarder
A 40% active solution of a chemically modified lignosulfonate, can be used to retard the setting of all classes of cement and Pozmix® cement, can be used at temperatures up to 210°F (99°C), as a secondary effect HR-6L retarder acts as a slight dispersant.
HR®-7 Cement Retarder
A sodium lignosulfonate used as a retarder and dispersant in all classes of cement and Pozmix® cement at temperatures ranging from 110°F (43.3°C) up to 170°F (76.7°C), as a secondary effect HR-7 retarder can decrease air entrainment and help control fluid loss.
HR®-817 Cement Retarder
A non-lignin based, high-temperature retarder (220°F/104°C to 350°F/177°C) that is North Sea approved, an economical alternative to commonly used high-temperature retarders.
HR-800™ Cement Retarder
Non-lignin based cement retarder capable of retarding cement at bottomhole circulating temperatures between 80°F (27°C) and 220°F (104°C), HR-800 retarder provides good strength development and may be effective in water-extended slurries, long cement columns or cooler temperatures.
SCR-100™ Retarder
A nonlignosulfonate cement retarder that helps simplify the design of thixotropic slurries.
SCR-200L™ Cement Retarder
SCR-200L liquid retarder is a synthetic, nonhazardous cement retarder specifically for high-temperature designs in environmentally sensitive locations.
SCR-500™ and SCR-500L™ Cement Retarders
A synthetic cement retarder designed for use in cement with bottomhole circulating temperatures between 200°F (93.3°C) and 330°F (165.5°C), produces a linear response between concentration and thickening time
Sodium Citrate
Can be used to optimize curing time in high gypsum content slurries with high-flow rates at low temperatures.
